Detroit-Shoreway is one of the few Cleveland neighborhoods where you can park the car and leave it. Coffee, tacos, pizza, pinball, a 1921 movie house, and three live theatres are all within a few blocks. Edgewater Beach and the lakefront trail are a short walk north.

Meet your hosts

Stacey & Gary Burnett

Stacey and Gary have been part of this neighborhood for years. They spent decades traveling as airline employees, so they have stayed in just about every kind of place, from rustic to lavish.

When the Detroit-Shoreway arts district started coming back to life, Stacey retired early to spend more time in the city she loves. She had been talking friends into visiting Cleveland for years, and BE Inn CLE grew out of that.

If something is not right, or you just want a dinner recommendation, message us. That is the whole point of staying with a host instead of a hotel.

Downtown is ten minutes east. Lake Erie sits at the end of the street. You are west of everything and close to all of it.

In town for a game

Every venue is about ten minutes away.

Guardians

Progressive Field, downtown. Easy drive or a short ride from the house.

Browns

Huntington Bank Field on the lakefront. The Muni Lot tailgate is a Cleveland rite of passage: about forty dollars, no in-and-out, and gates open around 5am for a 1pm kickoff.

Cavs & Monsters

Rocket Arena downtown hosts both the Cavaliers and the Cleveland Monsters hockey club.

Before or after the game, West 6th Street and the Flats are where most people grab food and drinks. Tower City is a transit hub and event space now rather than a mall, but it is still the easiest place to park and walk in.

Questions we get a lot.

Is the neighborhood walkable at night?

Detroit Avenue between roughly West 58th and West 78th is well lit and busy most evenings, especially when the theatres let out. Past that it thins out quickly. Normal city sense applies: stick to the main streets and you will be fine.

Do we need a car?

For Gordon Square, no. For anything else, yes, it helps. Rideshare is quick and reliable here. The RTA Red Line runs downtown and out to the airport, with the West 65th and West Boulevard stations nearby.

How far is the airport?

Cleveland Hopkins is about twenty minutes by car, less if you are going against traffic. The Red Line runs there directly if you would rather skip the fare.

What is there to do when it is cold?

A lot, honestly. The art museum, Playhouse Square, the Capitol Theatre, pinball at Superelectric, the West Side Market and a long list of good bars. Winter here is a reason to go inside somewhere warm, not to stay in.

Can we check in early or leave bags after checkout?

Often yes, depending on the turnaround that day. Send a message the day before and we will let you know.
